Keep the two paths apart
Speaking tasks are daily practice: students open them from To-do; teachers read completion and practice feedback. A speaking exam is a formal score: assign it separately; students take it from the speaking exam entry. If you treat an exam as “harder homework,” students miss the entry and teachers mix practice feedback with a term grade.
What to use in the first class
Assign one small scenario simulation or a Speaking tasks assignment first, and confirm the microphone and To-do both work. Do not run a formal exam before the class has finished one everyday task. Oral placement is not an exam either—do not auto-move classes from placement results.
How exams fit class time
Exams belong at stage checkpoints, not as daily nagging. After the exam, read the formal score and whether the speaker was the student. Details are in Help Center. A trial provisions the full teaching product (SaaS), not embeddable speaking inside your own system.
